Gentle and Thoughtful

When I learned to style natural hair, the first thing that I was taught was to be gentle and thoughtful of the client, especially young clients. I have heard the terms "tender-headed" and "sensitive spots" and never really understood what it all meant. If your client is expressing pain, the stylist ought to be thoughtful and "ease up" to allow for more comfort. I have worked with many hair types from fine to extremely course and not once did someone tell me that they were feeling discomfort. I believe that natural hair stylist should be trained to detangle and style clients using gentle methods. Adjusting for the client is of great importance to me.
